In December 2016, my band Chousand released our second studio EP “Ten Years Too Late.” I had spent months conceptualizing an idea for one of our singles off the record called “Wizard Wig,” and with the help of my talented friend/cinematographer Julian Focareta, we brought my outlandish idea to life. For weeks leading up to the shoot, we casted extras, built a crew, refined the script, and rehearsed nonstop. The day of, after nine takes, we successfully pulled off a two minute and twenty-seven second continuous shot, including luchador wrestling, live fireworks, several set changes, choreography, and a balloon drop. The finished video was so successful that it made its way to the front page of Reddit. The video helped spread our music to 48 different countries and reach 45,000 new fans, and “Wizard Wig” has been streamed over 300,000 times on Spotify.
